To help The Center for Michigan in its efforts to inform and educate Michigan’s citizens, Martin Waymire Advocacy Communications developed and coordinated The Michigan Truth Squad to review claims in political advertisements. The Michigan Truth Squad boosted the profile and reputation of the client, struck a precedent-setting partnership between public relations and the news media, exceeded all performance metrics, and, most importantly, performed the significant public service of helping Michigan voters become more informed and engaged in the 2010 statewide elections. The Truth Squad was intended to expire after Election Day 2010, but because of its success, it is now funded indefinitely to fact-check political speech for Michigan news media and voters.
