Rose Tantraphol

With more than 13 years of journalism, public relations and marketing experience, Rose Tantraphol blends skills in strategic communications and social media with front-line experience working for daily newspapers in New England, mid-Michigan’s largest health system and the Michigan Legislature. She effectively marshals traditional media relations and issue management with emerging social media tools to benefit a diverse range of clients.

Prior to joining Martin Waymire, Rose was a media relations specialist at Sparrow Health System in Lansing, where she handled media relations, issue management, social media, rebranding, internal communication and crisis communications. She has also served as a writer and communications analyst for the Michigan House of Representatives. From 1998 to 2005, Rose was a reporter, first at the Union-News/Sunday Republican in Springfield, Mass., and then at The Hartford Courant, where she covered breaking news and in-depth regional issues. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of California, Santa Cruz – making her a proud Banana Slug, for those of you who know your odd school mascots – and received her master’s from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.

Whether it’s a 140-character tweet or a 500-word article, Rose enjoys — in that blood, sweat and tears kind of way – the art of writing. In addition to freelancing, she blogs about Ashtanga yoga and life in mid-Michigan and beyond. If she’s not working at the office or at home blogging, Rose is most likely at a local yoga studio teaching an Ashtanga or vinyasa yoga class. Born in New Orleans, Rose loves to travel and eat well (not necessarily in that order), and she hopes to one day become a smashing salsa dancer.
