Martin Waymire’s mission of making Michigan a better place goes beyond our day-to-day work. This holiday season, we will participate in our seventh annual Martin Waymire Gives Project!
We’ve chosen Freedom’s Finest Outdoors as one of the nonprofits Martin Waymire will help this year. Freedom’s Finest Outdoors shares our mission of making Michigan a better place by helping Michigan veterans adjust to civilian life. We’re honored to help those who have sacrificed for our nation’s freedom.
Serve. Defend. Engage.
Freedom’s Finest Outdoors was founded in 2013 by Jesse Nakfoor and Jacob Reed. As veterans themselves, Jesse and Jacob understand the battles veterans face when they return from duty. They recognized the need to have an organization open to all veterans – regardless of gender, age, military branch or date of service – that could promote healing, help veterans dealing with post-traumatic stress syndrome (PTSD), and create a network for veterans longing for the camaraderie they shared while on duty.
Freedom’s Finest Outdoors connects veterans with outdoor activities to foster healing from both the apparent and unseen wounds of war. Outdoor getaways include activities such as camping, archery, canoeing, fishing, golfing, hiking and hunting. It also connects veterans with resources related to employment, peer-to-peer support, transition assistance, disability, education, advocacy, emergency relief and burial.
Designing for our veterans
This holiday season, Freedom’s Finest Outdoors received a $1,000 donation from Martin Waymire and chose to receive a designed marketing piece as an additional PR service Martin Waymire is providing. After discussing the organization’s goals with its leaders, it became clear that Freedom’s Finest Outdoors needed something they can give to veterans and potential sponsors to encourage them to join or donate to the organization.
The marketing piece that our Graphic Design Specialist Jodi Parker and Assistant Account Executive Natalie Kozma will be developing for Freedom’s Finest Outdoors outlines who they are, how to join, volunteer information and sponsorship information. Our goal is to help Freedom’s Finest Outdoor grow its donor base and expand its operations so more veterans can receive the help they deserve.
Value of Freedom’s Finest Outdoors
“My favorite part of our organization is the ability for veterans to connect with fellow soldiers beyond the battlefield,” said Jesse. “The veteran camaraderie is what makes the events worthwhile. Sometimes the best support system is comprised of those who also served.”
At Martin Waymire, we are honored to help those who have protected our country. Freedom’s Finest Outdoors’ new marketing piece will help them explain their mission to veterans, volunteers, donors and sponsors. Each are critical to the success of Freedom’s Finest Outdoors’ mission of providing activities and resources that connect veterans to the healing and benefits they deserve.
