Gives Project Part 2: The Firecracker Foundation

Share

Martin Waymire is proud to help the Firecracker Foundation with media training and a $500 donation as part of our annual Gives Project. The foundation offers cost-free services to residents of Ingham County such as individual therapy sessions as well as trauma-sensitive yoga therapy. The organization also hosts the Caretaker Support Group for parents of children who have survived sexual trauma.

The Firecracker Foundation, launched in 2013, is one of the three Michigan non-profit organizations selected for Martin Waymire’s 2015 Gives Project. We selected this organization because of its commitment to providing resources to children and teens who have survived sexual trauma, while simultaneously building a community invested in the healing of their whole being.

The other organizations chosen are the Ingham County Animal Shelter Fund and the Michigan Farmers Market Association. Each was offered a choice of media relations training, social media training, a social media analysis, photo session or a graphic design piece.

Connecting Michigan through Media

The Firecracker Foundation chose to have Martin Waymire provide media training they could use to better communicate their services to the greater Lansing area.

During the training, Account Executive Jessica Tramontana covered key strategies to use when pitching stories to and working with reporters around the state. The training also included suggested approaches on how to effectively convey the message of The Firecracker Foundation. The Firecracker Foundation plans to move forward with the newly learned skills to better reach audience who may not directly associated with childhood sexual violence.

Get up, get out and give

It has been the goal of the Holiday Gives project since its conception in 2010 to pay it forward to organizations committed to making our community, and state a better place. We encourage you to join us as well and take a look at the work The Firecracker Foundation has done.
