Martin Waymire, a Lansing-based public relations and digital marketing firm with a focus on public policy, received high honors in the Central Michigan Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) PACE Awards including the top prize of Best in Show for the Voters Not Politicians campaign to end partisan gerrymandering in Michigan.

“It has been a banner year for Martin Waymire,” said Martin Waymire partner Roger Martin, APR. “I can’t think of a better way to round out our 15th year in business than with this outstanding recognition of the dedication our team brings to clients working to make Michigan a better place and the successes we achieve together.”

The PACE Awards are mid-Michigan’s highest honor of public relations activities and are awarded annually to practitioners who—in the judgment of their national peers—have successfully addressed a contemporary issue with exemplary professional skill, creativity and resourcefulness. Martin Waymire took home 12 PACE awards in total including:

  • Best in Show and first-place Pinnacle Awards for public affairs campaigns for our work on Voters Not Politicians “Yes on Proposal 2: From grassroots campaign to national phenomenon.” The team also won first-place Pinnacle Awards for feature stories (“Do-It-Yourself Legislative Redistricting,” New York Times, 7/28/2018), newsletters and video programs and second-place Awards of Excellence for special event campaign, innovative tactics and media/press kits.
  • First-place Pinnacle Award in public service campaigns for I Vaccinate in partnership with the Franny Strong Foundation and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.
  • First-place Pinnacle Award for Editorials/Op-Ed columns for our work on passing Senate Bill 541 through MI Dental Access in collaboration with the Michigan Council of Child and Maternal Health & Pew Charitable Trusts, as well as second-place Award of Excellence for public affairs campaign.
  • Third-place Achievement Award for a public service campaign to increase the number of college graduates in Michigan for the Michigan College Access Network (MCAN).

Voters Not Politicians was awarded a third-place Bronze Pollies Award for ballot initiatives nationally from the American Association of Political Consultants at their annual conference on April 4 in Napa, Calif. Martin Waymire is also a finalist for two national PRSA Silver Anvil Awards for its work on the Voters Not Politicians and I Vaccinate campaigns. The Silver Anvils will be announced on June 6 in New York City.
