Here at Martin Waymire, we are proud of the work we do for all of our clients who are dedicated to making Michigan a better place. But today, we are especially proud to announce that we have won two national awards for PR excellence from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), including a first-place Silver Anvil for our work on the Voters Not Politicians Yes on Proposal 2 campaign to end partisan gerrymandering. We also won an Award of Excellence for the I Vaccinate campaign to boost childhood immunization rates in Michigan.
The Silver Anvil is considered “the Oscar” of the public relations profession. This is the fourth first-place Silver Anvil won by Martin Waymire staffers over the years, a remarkable accomplishment for any public relations firm.
Voters Not Politicians led the grassroots, nonpartisan Proposal 2 campaign to end partisan gerrymandering in Michigan. Supported by 61% of Michigan voters on Nov. 6, 2018, the constitutional amendment transfers the power of drawing the state’s election district maps from the Legislature to an Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission. Voters Not Politicians started with a Facebook post and grew to earn national attention from outlets including The New York Times, Huffington Post, Rachel Maddow Show, Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, The Washington Post, The Hill and The Wall Street Journal. Martin Waymire was retained to provide strategic insight and communications expertise.
“Martin Waymire is passionate about making Michigan a better place,” said Martin Waymire partner David Waymire. “We are extremely proud of the role we played to help tell the story of thousands of passionate volunteers who came together from across the state to amend the state constitution to ensure voters can choose their politicians – not the other way around.”
I Vaccinate is an ongoing campaign to boost childhood immunization rates in Michigan in partnership with the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services and the Franny Strong Foundation.
“We’ve seen tremendous feedback from the I Vaccinate campaign and a growing awareness of the importance of keeping children safe from vaccine-preventable diseases,” said Martin Waymire Vice President Andie Poole. “We are incredibly proud that our work to provide science-based evidence to support vaccinations through innovative and creative online tactics such as influencer marketing, blogging, social media and paid digital advertising is making an impact.”
Our team was able to attend the ceremony at the Edison Ballroom in New York City surrounded by some of the nation’s top public relations firms and practitioners. Thank you to our clients, friends and family members who have supported our work and partnered with us to achieve this national recognition!
