Meet Martin Waymire’s new student practitioners

Share

We’re excited to welcome two new student practitioners to the Martin Waymire team! It’s not easy starting off a new internship working remotely, unable to come into the office because of a pandemic. Our new team members, Chanel and McKenna, have hit the ground running and are proving themselves to be incredible additions to our award-winning team. Please join us in welcoming them to Martin Waymire!

Chanel Sheffer

Chanel is a junior at Michigan State University majoring in Public Relations with a minor in Women’s Studies, focusing on sexuality and violence.

Before joining Martin Waymire, Chanel started a virtual internship in June with LaCroix Communications LLC, a small PR Firm started about a year ago. Chanel is the Fundraising Chair, Bateman Case Coordinator, and DEI Chair of MSU PRSSA’s Executive Board for the 2020-2021 academic year. She appreciates how PRSSA has helped her uncover her interest in PR. She hopes her time at Martin Waymire will help further her passion for the profession. When Chanel graduates, she hopes to work for a woman-owned PR firm. Chanel loves being busy and trying new things, and recently bought a sewing machine. She also has been trying to learn Swedish and catch up on her knowledge of Spanish.

McKenna Cameron

McKenna is a senior at Michigan State University studying Marketing in the Eli Broad College of Business with a minor in Leadership of Organizations. Before becoming a student practitioner at Martin Waymire, McKenna was an account service intern with our partner advertising agency in Birmingham, Brogan and Partners. She realized her love for marketing and advertising early in her college career and recently became more interested in public relations and social media. Her time at Brogan working on projects that also included Martin Waymire allowed her to see how things run from another perspective.

McKenna has worked as Director of the Social Media Committee for VIM Magazine, a student run fashion and lifestyle magazine at Michigan State. She also has served as a Peer Adviser at the Michigan State University Office for Education Abroad for two years, after her own education abroad program to New Zealand.

McKenna is looking forward to expanding her public relations experience and is ready for a great, virtual internship!
