More than a credential: the APR as a distinction of success

Share

Throughout our 20-year history as a public relations and digital marketing agency, Martin Waymire has intentionally prioritized industry standards that set our firm apart and position our clients for success.

We have the unique distinction of being founded by two well-respected and award-winning journalists. Our founders, Roger Martin and David Waymire, laid the groundwork for a team that truly understands and respects the role of media relations in any successful campaign.

Our work has won the Public Relations Society of America’s Silver Anvil award, the Pulitzer Prize of our industry, five times. And with a sixth award pending, we continue to deliver results for our clients that go beyond standard PR industry metrics and instead, truly move the needle on the issues shaping our society.

And as of 2022, our company is now owned by three practitioners who have all achieved their Accreditation in Public Relations. Each April, the Public Relations Society of America recognizes APR Month – an industry credential we hold in the highest esteem.

What is the APR?

Like the lifelong learning programs of a certified public accountant (CPA), a human resources generalist (SPHR) or various therapist modalities, professional credentials demonstrate competence, experience and proficiency. The APR credential holds PR practitioners to a set of principles and professionalism that set our work apart in the vast field of communications.

The ethics-based APR creates a framework for every communications initiative, elevates the profession and amplifies the speed at which a practitioner can implement research-based programs and track results that ultimately change behavior. It’s for these reasons – ethics, professionalism and skills – that Martin Waymire is proud to have a team of practitioners either with their accreditation or actively working towards it.

Why the APR Matters

When working with our team, you will hear us speak about and lean heavily on our four-step process ensuring that the work we deliver is grounded in data and effectively delivers on your organizational goals. You’ll find that we’re vocal advocates for both your organization and target audiences, bridging the divide between your work and those you seek to serve. And you’ll also hear us praising the work of practitioners within and outside of our company committed to the ethical practice of PR because we fully believe that to move our industry forward, we must be a collaborative partner.

These prestigious achievements mean more to our company than just the milestones they represent for our success and credibility. Though we are proud of each and every one, the application of the distinctions that we believe set Martin Waymire apart have real world, everyday implications for our clients.

This April for APR Month, we hope you’ll join us in applauding those committed to upholding the ethics and best practices of our profession, those who find strength in valuing each of our unique skillsets, and all who are working towards becoming credentialed practitioners in the future.
