The holiday season is filled with traditions that bring people together.
One of Martin Waymire’s favorite traditions, MW Gives, demonstrates the true meaning of the season by giving the gift of gratitude.
MW Gives launched over a decade ago to help celebrate the real meaning of the holidays by recognizing people and organizations working to make our communities and state a better place. In lieu of gifts, we identify organizations in Michigan that we can support as a “thank you” for the services they provide to our communities.
Over the years, we have supported groups that strengthen and beautify our community through creativity, feed the hungry, provide shelter to families in need and the homeless, and deliver services to our military veterans, just to name a few. Most recently in 2021, we supported organizations that uplift families and children of all backgrounds across the greater Lansing community to help them adjust to life after the pandemic and set them up for future success.
For MW Gives 2022, we are supporting three organizations in the Lansing area that are dedicated to normalizing the conversation around mental health and offer resources, support and hope to individuals and families who are affected by mental illness. We’re excited to share those organizations with you, so that you too can learn about them, and if you know someone in need, turn to them for support:
- Child and Family Charities, which aims to strengthen and support children, families and individuals as they evolve and grow in a changing community.
- The Listening Ear, the nation’s oldest all volunteer crisis center dedicated to improving the quality of life in the community by providing anonymous, confidential crisis intervention and referral services free of charge to both telephone and drop-in clients.
- National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Lansing, which is dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and families who are affected by neurobiological brain disorders through support, education, advocacy, and research.
We are making financial contributions to these three organizations and encourage you to join us in helping them continue their vital work in our community.
At Martin Waymire, we work hard every day to make Michigan a better place. The organizations we are supporting this year are doing vital work to advocate for mental health care right here in our Lansing community, making our home a better place. MW Gives is our way of showing our appreciation for the important services they provide.
Look for more information about these organizations in the coming weeks and join us this holiday season by saying “thank you” to these three organizations who continue to strengthen, support and advocate for the mental health of children, families and individuals in our community.
