Everyone knows Martin Waymire loves dogs, but did you know the Capital Area Humane Society (CAHS) has been taking care of our region’s furry friends since 1935?
The CAHS shelter can house up to 400 animals at a time, and in 2017, an average of over 12 animals got a forever home every day. That’s one animal going home every 34 minutes the Humane Society has its doors open!
At that rate, our team couldn’t pass up supporting the pups—and the people who take care of them—at the Capital Area Humane Society during this year’s MW Gives Project. From vaccinations to adoptions and caring for lost animals, the CAHS makes sure pets are healthy, safe and have a home. While dogs and cats await a new home, volunteers and foster parents love on the animals with socialization and affection.
In the upcoming weeks, Martin Waymire will be giving a financial gift and our PR & marketing expertise to support the efforts of the Capital Area Humane Society. If you would like to help out too, CAHS volunteers socialize with dogs or cats and can help out with other meaningful work, such as housekeeping, assisting in the office and teaching as an education counselor. The CAHS also takes item and monetary donations to help advance their mission to promote the humane treatment of companion animals through protection, placement, education, and example.
