Bells are ringing, trees are lit, and here at Martin Waymire we are full of holiday spirit – which means it is time to launch our seventh annual Martin Waymire Gives project!

Each holiday season, we are reminded of the many organizations in our community that work tirelessly to make Michigan a better place. But we could all use a little extra help. That’s why once again, Martin Waymire wants to give back to those who deserve it most.

The 2016 Martin Waymire Gives project will help three nonprofit organizations improve their communications and provide financial donations to help carry out their missions. These are the incredible organizations we have the opportunity to work with:

  • The Davies Project for Mid-Michigan Children, which seeks to provide community-based, non-medical support to local families facing serious long-term health challenges with a child;
  • Freedom’s Finest Outdoors, which connects veterans with the outdoors and inspires and promotes all aspects of healing;
  • Capital Area Literacy Coalition, which serves the Lansing area by providing free tutoring in reading and writing for children struggling in schools, at risk teens, and adults; they also provide tutoring to migrant and refugee families by giving English as a Second Language instruction.
History of the MW Gives project

The Martin Waymire Gives project began in 2010 as a way to demonstrate the true meaning of the season. The mission of our Gives project centers on serving extraordinary organizations during the year-end holidays. It’s our way of showing gratitude for their tireless work to make this state a better place.

This year, we’ve decided to carry on the tradition of providing a pro-bono consulting service in addition to a monetary contribution. During the season, various Martin Waymire staff will provide a consulting service, free of charge, in efforts to improve each of the three organizations’ communications. Services to choose from include media relations training, social media training, a social media analysis, photo session or a graphic design piece.

Giving back and moving forward

Throughout the years, we’ve learned the importance of generosity. We’ve received overwhelming support from our clients and friends as we work to empower other organizations continuing their work serving the people of Michigan.

We look forward to supporting organizations that offer exceptional service to the community and state for many holiday seasons to come. Additionally, we welcome the opportunity to learn more about the people who strive to make Michigan a better place.

Stay tuned throughout the holiday season, as we report on each of the 2016 Gives project organizations, and our journey with them to better their overall missions and goals.

A shared mission

The giving season should not stop here. We encourage you, your friends, family, and other Michiganders to get involved in your communities. If we all do our part, we can make Michigan a better place one generous act at a time.

Take this opportunity to get involved, give back, and give to those in need this holiday season!
