Twitter changed its layout again—but the team here at Martin Waymire think it’s for the better. And you shouldn’t worry too much; this new layout won’t totally throw your Twittersphere out of whack.
The new design initially rolled out to a select few (mainly celebrities) back in February, but have no fear. The new design is now available to everyone…yes, even us Lansing locals!
Here are the main points to take away from this makeover:
Pinned tweets
Have an event coming up? Want to make sure an article gets read by followers? Similar to Facebook, you can now select one of your tweets to keep pinned above the rest. In addition, the font size will be more large-scale and prominent with pinned tweets.
Larger banner / profile photo
There is now more visual appeal to Twitter profiles, including a much larger banner photo and increased profile photo. Worried about finding these new dimensions? Look no further:
- Banner Dimensions: 1500×500 pixels
- Profile Photo: 400×400 pixels
No change to third-party platforms
Use Hootsuite, Tweetdeck or some other social media management tool? Don’t worry about tweaking anything; this new design won’t affect any of your current settings and you can continue using as usual.
Sorted Tweets
There is now more organization to how you can view your tweets. With the “Tweets” tab, you can view all of your tweets, just as before. The new addition, “Photos/Videos” tab, will show all tweets that you have shared with any visual attachment.
Mashable also released a brief article showcasing these new changes, as Twitter announced the rollout.

So there you have it, the new Twitter #NeedToKnow.
