Emily Mata is a recent graduate of Michigan State University, bringing her bachelor’s degree in communications to Martin Waymire as an account executive. Emily’s passion is connecting with people and sharing their stories — and has made a career of doing so. She spends her days helping clients share their narratives through a mix of strategic and operational support.
Emily comes to Martin Waymire with three years of experience in political communications, digital strategy and media relations expertise, proving her ability to juggle multiple projects in order to help clients identify and reach their strategic goals. Building on her experience as a legislative aide for Michigan State Senator Steve Bieda, Emily worked in the extremely fast-paced, high-intensity environment of the office of Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder, where she further honed her strategic writing and communication skills. After leaving Gov. Snyder’s office, Emily transitioned to agency life, cutting her teeth on social media and digital strategy at Moonsail North.
During her time at Michigan State, Emily was an undergraduate teaching assistant in multiple public relations courses, as well as a member of the MSU Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA). These days, Emily stays involved in the community through the Central Michigan Public Relations Society of America (CMPRSA), the Social Media Association of Michigan (SMaMI) and attending Grand River Connections events.
In her free time, Emily enjoys grossly overpriced designer coffee, decorating cakes and spending time with her nephew. She loves the small-town appeal that the Midwest holds, in particular, the splendor that is #LoveLansing.
